About me

I set up Rocket Tutoring in 2017 to give pupils in the private school sector the best possible chance of passing the ISEB pretest and getting into the school of your choice.

Having tutored my son Oscar through the process 7 years ago - and loved it - I was then asked by friends if I could help with their children's pretest preparation.... and this is where it all began!

I work with year 5 and 6 pupils to improve on their verbal reasoning, non verbal reasoning, maths and English skills. I also equip the pupils with tips and techniques so they are fully prepared by the time they sit the tests. I put particular emphasis on the children enjoying their time with me so that I can get the best out of them and so they look forward to our next lesson!

Why are the pretests so important?

I cannot overemphasise how important the ISEB pretest has become. It has replaced the year 8 CE exams as the basis on which a child is accepted into a public school.. and the competition has become fierce! Not every public school requires the ISEB pretest but most do. This is sat in the autumn term of year 6.

There is a perception that you cannot revise for these tests but let me assure you that familiarity, practise and confidence in answering this style of question will be a huge advantage.

In addition, the maths section of the pretest covers a huge variety of topics up to the year 6 syllabus, of which your child may not be up to speed or may have forgotten. My program recaps or reteaches every part of the maths curriculum needed for the test.

Depending on the child's strengths and weaknesses, I tailor the pretest program to their needs so that they become confident in all four areas of the test.
